Airport to Riad Transfer in Marrakech: Book in Advance with getme.ma
You've just landed at Marrakech-Menara airport. It's 11pm, you have two suitcases, and you don't know the city. This moment — between the baggage carousel and your riad door — sets the tone for your entire stay. Done right, it's a smooth and serene arrival. Done wrong, your first memory of Marrakech is a tense negotiation in a car park.
Transfer options from the airport
Taxi at the rank — the option to avoid
At the arrivals exit, touts will offer you taxis. Rates are often not displayed and sometimes two or three times the local price for newcomers. The trip to the Medina costs between 70 and 150 dirhams locally — but without pre-booking and a rate agreed in advance, you may pay three times more.
Pre-booked private car — the recommended choice
The best option is a private car booked in advance. Fixed rate agreed beforehand, driver waiting with your name on a sign, no negotiation, air-conditioned vehicle. For a group of two or more, the extra cost over a taxi is marginal.

Book on getme.maArriving at the Medina gate
An important detail: cars cannot enter the narrow lanes of the Medina. Your driver will drop you at the nearest access point to your riad — usually a square or main gate. From there, it's on foot, typically 5 to 10 minutes through the derbs. At Riad Darino, we always send you a WhatsApp map with the recommended drop-off point and exact GPS coordinates of our door — so your first walk through the Medina is a discovery, not a source of stress.
What time to plan the transfer?
The drive between the airport and the Medina takes 20 to 35 minutes depending on the time of day. Avoid the 8–9:30am and 5:30–7:30pm slots which correspond to peak traffic on Avenue Mohammed VI. If your flight arrives at night (after 10pm), that is actually the best time for the transfer: the streets are clear and arriving in the sleeping Medina is magical.
